Birdland’s popular ‘Trick or Tweet Week’ returns for Halloween half-term!

From Saturday 26th October – Sunday 3rd November, Birdland keepers will be using treat-filled pumpkins to offer environmental enrichment for the park’s birds.

Visitors can also enjoy daily talks where they can witness some of Birdland’s smartest residents showcase their foraging skills.

Keepers will be hiding a variety of creepy crawlies inside pumpkins to see how different species use their intellect and dexterity to forage for food.

Head Keeper Alistair Keen explains: “Environmental enrichment provides stimulation for our birds and encourages them to use natural behaviours to solve challenges. By hiding food such as crickets or locust inside pumpkins, it means the birds have to forage to get to their food.”

In addition to the enrichment and keeper talks, there will be a fun-filled Halloween Trail for families to enjoy around the gardens.
