Birdland and Waterlife Recovery Trust Partner to Protect River Wildlife

Birdland Park & Gardens has partnered with the Waterlife Recovery Trust to install a specialist monitoring raft along a stretch of the River Windrush within the park’s grounds, supporting efforts to protect native wildlife from the invasive American mink.

The monitoring raft has been carefully positioned along the river within Birdland’s grounds and as part of the partnership, the Birdland team will regularly inspect the raft, record any activity and share the findings with the Waterlife Recovery Trust. These records allow conservationists to identify which species are present and builds a better understanding of our waterways.

The project reflects Birdland’s ongoing commitment to conservation, not only through the care of the hundreds of birds that call the park home, but also by supporting initiatives that help protect local wildlife and habitats beyond the collection itself. Working alongside organisations such as the Waterlife Recovery Trust enables Birdland to play a practical role in conserving biodiversity and protecting the River Windrush.
