Planning a visit to Birdland for your school, here’s a useful guide to everything you need to know!

Special rates available for pre-booked education and school groups
- CHILDREN: £4.95 per child
- One teacher free with every five paying children.
- Teachers are also offered one free pre-visit for planning.
- Special Educational sessions from close encounters to pond-dipping can be arranged for a small additional fee.
Educational Programme – We can tailor a Birdland visit or provide a talk or close encounter session to suit particular curriculum requirements. Please contact us to discuss in advance.
Self guided learning – Check our website for new and exciting learning resources available to download before your visit. On the day there will always be Birdland staff who are available to help you. Each school group receives a welcome on arrival and can then discover Birdland at their leisure.
Payment – On arrival groups will be met by a member of our welcome team, who will organise tickets and inform you on special activities taking place. Invoicing after your visit can be arranged by prior agreement in advance. Invoices must be paid within 28 days of your visit.
Access – Birdland is able to offer full access to the main visitor route around the Park using wheelchairs.
Health and safety – Teachers are responsible for first aid and safe behaviour of their group whilst on site. Birdland has a fully qualified first aider based on site – they are contactable by all staff in case of emergency.
Free pre-visits and risk assessments – Group leaders are encouraged to take advantage of a free pre-visit to Birdland prior to their group visit, to get to know the site and conduct a site risk assessment. Please book your familiarisation visit in advance.
Toilets – Toilets are available at Flamingo Point Café.
Lunch – You are welcome to picnic in the Park and Gardens and there are a number of areas on the trail. There is also a couple of sheltered spots in case of rain. The café and kiosks offer food to go including a selection of hot and cold snacks. Lunch packs can be arranged in advance.
Shopping – There is a gift shop on the exit to Birdland and welcomes school pupils. We sell a variety of pocket money items.
Coaches and minibuses – Drop Off / Parking text required. Coach drivers are provided with a generous refreshments voucher and are welcome to visit free of charge.
