Penguin Shore is currently undergoing a face-lift by the experienced display theming team from Nautlius.
The plan is to build an artificial rock wall placed along the back of the enclosure at varying heights.
This will incorporate nesting sites for the Humboldt penguins.
There will also be a sprinkler system for the warm summer days (here’s hoping) when the penguins love to cool off under the spray.
The work is expected to take about a week, with feeding time taking place at 2.30 as normal.
Disturbance for the penguins will be kept to a minimum although you may find the birds sectioned at the far end of the enclosure as work continues.
