There are 55 species of  hornbill found and the largest is the Ground Hornbill weighing 4kg (8.8lbs). and the smallest is the Dwarf Red -Billed Hornbill weighing 100g (3.5ozs).

In the wild, Trumpeter Hornbills are often seen foraging in large groups and when roosting up to 200 have been counted together. such foraging groups can travel up to 15km (9.3 miles) a day in their forest habitat.

The record age for this species in captivity is 21 years.

Diet: Fruit ( wide ranging from grapes to melons), insects and small birds.

Location: East and South Africa.

Status in the wild: not threatened at this time.
