Greater Rhea

Cassowary and Rhea are members of the Ostrich family, both large flightless birds with long powerful legs for either kicking or running away!
These birds are from the family Ratites and are unusual, as one male will control a harem of females who lay their eggs in one nest and the male will undertake the incubation and rearing of the chicks!
Both birds are very vocal and use a very deep resonating booming that can be heard over very large distances.
