Golden Conure
Also known as the Queen of Bavaria Conure.
The Golden Conure is isolated to a small area of Brazil and as its habitat is under constant threat the bird’s status is considered vulnerable.
There is now an International Studbook held at Phoenix Zoo, Arizona.
Birdland is part of the breeding programme and has obtained a male bird to pair with our resident female. The pair are very compatible and the female has laid eggs, but the first clutch was not fertile.
Any chicks reared will extend the breeding programme and could be sent to any part of the world in the future and if necessary their offspring may become part of a reintroduction scheme in Brazil.
Distribution: North-eastern Brazil.
Diet: Seeds, nuts and fruit.
