10 Reasons to visit Birdland this Autumn!

Birdland Park & Gardens has plenty for all the family to enjoy on an autumnal day out. Here are just some of our favourites:

1. Venture into the Jurassic Journey
Discover the Jurassic Journey at Birdland. The interactive trail takes visitors back to the time that dinosaurs roamed the Cotswolds. Explorers will be armed with special dinosaur tracker kits, and will venture in to a Jurassic-themed landscape which is home to more than 30 different dinosaurs.

2. Discover Out of Africa
Observe the nine aviaries dedicated to showcasing the amazing species from Africa, including the Black-Cheeked Love Birds and the Southern Ground Hornbills.

3. Penguin Feeding
Don’t miss the two penguin feedings at 11am and 2.30pm and meet the famous residents. Keepers will be feeding the family of King Penguins and Humboldts as well as talking to visitors about caring for penguins and introducing them to the characters that inhabit Penguin Shore. PLUS spot the Humboldt chicks recently named Thor and Loki!

4. Meet the Keepers – Birdland has expert Keepers who know all about their feathered friends. Look out for the ‘Meet a Keeper’ station in the park and learn something new.

5. Enjoy a Picnic – Pick a spot by your favourite birds and enjoy the crisp September sunshine in the park and gardens.

6. Hatchery – Head to the hatchery to see the eggs in incubation and meet the newest additions to the Birdland family as they hatch.

7. Close Encounters – Become a perch for a parrot and get up close to some of the Birdland residents. The petting area of the Close Encounters zone means that you can meet tortoises and cuddle the bunnies.

8. Flamingo Point Café – Grab a delicious lunch, fantastic Cotswold cream tea and much more at the Flamingo Point Café.

9. Pelican Feeding – Meet the pink-backed pelicans and watch them being fed daily at 3.15pm. Discover the feeding habits of the giant billed birds and find out more.

10. Flamingo Feeding – Pull up a picnic by the Flamingo river to see the fabulous flamingos being fed. There are 6 species of flamingo and Birdland have 2 species for visitors to meet, the Greater and Caribbean. All flamingos are pink and obtain the colour from their diet of crustaceans.
